Projektbeschreibung

A new revolutionary software technology is developed to create 3D digital models for product and industrial design. The technology allows manufacturers to design products faster, with higher precision and more intuitively than with existing technology and hence, more cost-effective.. Our technology relies on a disruptive concept to represent 3D graphical objects as a digital signal rather than as a standard computer graphics object as is the case today. The software is cloud-based and runs in any standard webbrowser and involves collaboration tools for simultaneous CAD modeling by multiple users.

This project consists in evolving a previously developed industrial protoype-software into a pre-stage of a commercial product. The existing prototype served as a proof-of-concept to validate and confirm that our technology is compatible with industrial CAD standards, such as file formats required to communicate with manufacturing devices, and it was also used to prove that real products can be manufactured using the 3D digital designs created with our technology.

Was ist das Besondere an diesem Projekt?

In an effort to make CAD software more accessible to the manufacturing industry, Mirrakoi SA combines its new 3D design technology with the opportunities provided by the internet and cloud infrastructures. Our new and patented 3D surfacing technology is implemented as a web-tool and integrates web-communication concepts such as simultaneous real-time designing in teams, centralized file history and versioning, 3D scene sharing and more. The combination of a new and simpler design technology with web-capabilities can lead to more efficient learning, designing, and collaborating. Moreover, the technology is accessible with any standard hardware and does not require expensive equipment.
Mirrakoi SA is committed to develop the next generation of 3D design software through its novel 3D CAD technology, which has been specifically developed to overcome today’s existing challenges in 3D design. Our technology enables designers and engineers to create and model digital objects with less effort, less expertise, and faster than with existing tools.

Stand/Resultate

Mirrakoi SA was incorporated in 2018 as a spin-off of EPFL. In 2019, Mirrakoi was granted its first U.S. patent related to the developed 3D surface design technology and the startup has launched its first product to market in February of the same year. With its go-to-market product Mirrakoi has onboarded customers across several industries that use 3D CAD for manufacturing and 3D printing such as for the design of furniture, jewellery, components for the automotive industry as well as anatomical models used in medicine and medical implants. The web-based product that was developed with funds from GRS is thought to be the next step in Mirrakoi’s product line.
After the early traction gained with the market-entry product Mirrakoi will now focus on driving initial growth in the above-mentioned vertical industries of product design and medical CAD.
